What does resilience mean? How do we plan, design, build, and adapt spaces, places and cities while enabling community resilience? Reaching beyond discussions of disaster preparedness and relief, resilience thinking can give us the tools to address complex stressors such as climate change, urban densification, displacement and other significant social, political, and economic changes we face today.

This interactive full-day forum will explore:

  • What resilience means within a socio-ecological framework
  • How resilient systems can inform design and planning
  • What opportunities exist with local agencies, organizations and communities so that designers can be advocates for enhancing resilience
