REACH Community Developmentās mission is to create quality, affordable housing for individuals, families, and communities to thrive. Since 1982, REACH has operated as a non-profit, addressing complex challenges facing the affordable housing industry. Recently they have made concerted efforts to align sustainability and livability.
When REACH partnered with Ankrom Moisan Architects to create their new complex, Grayās Landing in southwest Portland, they envisioned a community of high-quality, sustainable affordable housing consisting of 209 units. The result was a LEED Platinum mixed-use development with retail on the first floor, a landscaped courtyard on the second floor, and the new administrative offices for REACH.
Mutual Materials was thrilled to be a part of the project, supplying the brick as well as the architectural slabs for the courtyard. A color combination of Red, Ginger, and Tan 24ā x 24ā architectural slabs were used to give the courtyard a unique vibrant palette to provide a relaxing environment for residents.
